Classes and Education

Drug prevention and education are critical to the addiction recovery process.

This is why LFM works hard to educate offenders both before and after an addiction through Recovery for Life and the Meth Free Project.

Meth Free Project Class

The Meth Free project consists of both the court-ordered class and the jail program. The court-ordered class is for offenders convicted of drug related crimes. Based on a special condition of probation, offenders are ordered to attend LFM’s Meth Free project education class for the purpose of deterring illicit drug use and associated activities through education and personal experiences. The class occurs monthly, typically lasting 2 hours. The class includes a 40 minute educational DVD and an impact panel speaker. Research shows the horrific consequences of meth resonate strongly with potential users in addition to those already entangled in it.

Meth Free Project Classes are held the third Monday of each month. The jail program is made up of two parts. Phase 1: The Meth Free Project; and Phase 2: Recovery for Life. Phase 1 is a voluntary, four week class: Week 1: High is  Lie; Week 2: The Science of Meth and Addiction; Week 3: Consequences to Using; Week 4: Intervention. Once Phase 1 is completed, inmates have the opportunity to sign up for Phase 2, the 12 step Recovery for Life program. They receive Recovery for Life workbooks and bibles as they are available. Once they are released from jail, attendees have the opportunity to continue the program by plugging into a Recovery for Life group in their community.
